Game freezes for a few seconds then just goes to desktop. Consistently happens every time I play. Checked VRAM at it sits at 4.2 which below what I have so I don't run out of memory. Also shaders are fully loaded (sits at 0 on F1). Happens in any area. Note that this didn't happen before patch.

Troubleshooting I've done

I've spent a significant amount of time testing the system because an instant power loss normally suggests a hardware problem.

I've tested:

CPU and GPU stress tests/benchmarks using Cinebench
Different BIOS configurations and XMP profiles
CPU voltage/undervolt settings
IA CEP and CPU current-limit settings
Different power limits
DX12 and Vulkan
Different monitor refresh rates
Different FPS limits, including 144 and 60 FPS
Windows page-file settings
NVIDIA PoE2-specific driver settings
PoE2 and NVIDIA shader-cache clearing
NVIDIA driver rollback from 610.88 to 610.62 using a clean installation

Cinebench testing produced normal CPU and GPU results, with normal temperatures and no WHEA errors observed during testing.

Other demanding games on the same PC do not cause these instant power losses. The problem is currently specific to PoE2.

DX12 / Vulkan

There is also an important separate DX12 issue.

One of the DX12 problems I experienced was the game freezing for several seconds and eventually sending me back to the character-selection screen, sometimes leaving the instance inaccessible.

This is particularly relevant because 0.5.4e was supposed to address/fix the DX12 freezing issue. However, I continued experiencing the same DX12 freezes and disconnects even after updating to 0.5.4e.

Because of this, I switched to Vulkan. Vulkan avoids that particular DX12 freeze/disconnection problem for me, but the complete PC shutdown/reboot can still happen while using Vulkan.

NVIDIA driver rollback

Because 0.5.4e arrived around the same time as NVIDIA driver 610.88, I also tested the previous driver, 610.62, which was the driver I was using before the current problems appeared.

I clean-installed 610.62 and cleared both the PoE2 and NVIDIA shader caches.

The PC still eventually shut down during PoE2.

So simply reverting the NVIDIA driver did not solve the problem.

What I am asking

I'm posting this because I've seen multiple other players reporting very similar instant PC shutdown/reboot issues after 0.5.4e.

I understand that Kernel-Power 41 normally points toward a hardware problem, which is why I've spent so much time testing my own system. However, the timing of this issue, the fact that the system was stable before 0.5.4e, the fact that other players are reporting similar problems, and the fact that other games remain stable make me strongly suspect a PoE2-related regression or a PoE2/driver interaction.

GGG, can you please confirm whether this issue is known and being investigated?

Even a simple acknowledgement that the team is aware of the problem would help. Right now, affected players are left trying BIOS changes, driver rollbacks, FPS limits, renderer changes, undervolting, etc. without knowing whether the issue is actually being investigated.

I really just want to play the game again without worrying that my entire PC is going to suddenly power off in the middle of a map.
